When you use our Services, we collect the following types of information:
Personal Information: Different Services may require different information from you.
Some information that may be required to provide the Service is your name, email address, phone number, address, and other information about your insulation project.
Support Channels: The Services also include customer support, where you may submit information regarding a problem you are experiencing or a question you have about a Service. Whether you contact us via the website, social media, or speak with one of our representatives directly, you will be asked to provide contact information, a summary of your problem or question, and any other documentation related to the situation.
Additional Information: You may also choose to give us additional information about your project, specific situation, or opinions. Also, you may provide blueprints for your project, blog comments, online surveys, contests, promotions, job applications, or a friend’s contact information for a referral to our Services.
Usage Information: When you access or use our Services, we receive certain usage data. This includes information about your interaction with the Services, for example, when you view or search content, download a resource or use the calculator.
We also collect data about the devices and computers you use to access the Services, including the type of device, IP addresses, browser type, language, operating system, the referring web page, pages visited, location, and cookie information. How much of this information we collect depends on the type and settings of the device you use to access the Services.
We may receive information about you from our business and channel partners.
RetroFoam of Michigan Partners: We work with a network of contractors, dealers, and manufacturers in the USA who may help us to promote our Services. For example, we receive information from our partners when they believe we may be able to assist a user with our Services.
Other partners: We receive information about you and your activities on and off the Services from third-party partners, such as advertising and market research partners who provide us with information about your interest in, and engagement with, our Services and online advertisements.
We use the information we collect for the following purposes.
Provide and Maintain the Services: Using the information we collect, we are able to deliver the Services to you. For example, we need to use your information to provide you with an estimate, send you the resource you requested, and provide customer support.
Improve, Personalize and Develop the Services: We use the information we collect to improve and personalize the Services and to develop new ones. For example, we use the information to troubleshoot, data analysis and testing, perform research and surveys, provide a personalized website experience and develop new features and Services.
Communicate with You: We use your information when needed to send you Service notifications and respond to you when you contact us. We also use your information to promote new features or products that we think you would be interested in. You can control marketing communications via the “Unsubscribe” link in an email.
To market, promote, and drive engagement with the Services: We use your contact information and information about how you use the Services to send promotional communications that may be of specific interest to you, including by email and by displaying RetroFoam of Michigan ads on other third-party websites, as well as on platforms like Facebook and Google. These communications are aimed at driving engagement and promoting other services we think may be of interest to you. You can control email messages via the “Unsubscribe” link in an email, and information about opting out of advertisements is found below in: Analytics and Advertising Services Provided by Others.
Promote Safety and Security: We use the information we collect to promote the safety and security of the Services, our users, and other parties. For example, we may use the information to authenticate users, protect against fraud and abuse, respond to a legal request or claim, conduct audits, and enforce our terms and policies.
Legal bases for processing: For personal data subject to the GDPR, we rely on several legal bases to process the data. These include when you have given your consent, which you may withdraw at any time by contacting us; when the processing is necessary to provide you with a Service; and our legitimate business interests, such as in improving, personalizing, and developing the Services, marketing new features or products that may be of interest, and promoting safety and security as described above.
We do not share your personal information except in the limited circumstances described below.
When you Agree or Direct Us to Share: You may authorize us to share your information with others, for example, when another contractor may be a better option for meeting your needs.
For External Processing: We transfer information to our corporate affiliates, service providers, and other partners who process it for us, based on our instructions, and in compliance with this policy and any other appropriate confidentiality and security measures. These partners provide us with things like information technology, payments, sales, marketing, and data analysis.
For Legal Reasons or To Prevent Harm: We may preserve or disclose information about you to comply with a law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request; to assert legal rights or defend against legal claims; or to prevent, detect, or investigate illegal activity, fraud, abuse, violations of our terms, or threats to the security of the Services or the physical safety of any person.
You have certain choices available to you when it comes to your information. Below is a summary of those choices, how to exercise them, and any limitations. We will respond to requests about this within a reasonable timeframe.
You have the right to request a copy of your information, to object to our use of your information (including for marketing purposes), to request the deletion or restriction of your information, or to request your information in a structured, electronic format. Below, we describe the tools and processes for making these requests. You may contact us as provided in the Contact Us section below to request assistance.
Your request and choices may be limited in certain cases: for example, fulfilling your request may impact or void your lifetime warranty, which we have compelling, legitimate interests to keep.
Access and update your information: You have the ability to request access and update certain information about yourself. You would need to contact our office to do so.
Delete your information: You have the ability to delete certain information about yourself. Please note, however, that we may need to retain certain information for record-keeping purposes, to uphold lifetime warranties, complete transactions, or to comply with our legal obligations.
Request that we stop using your information: In some cases, you may ask us to stop accessing, storing, using, and otherwise processing your information where you believe we don't have the appropriate rights to do so. For example, if you believe a Services request was created for you without your permission or you are no longer interested, you can request that we delete your account as provided in this policy. Where you gave us consent to use your information for a limited purpose, you can contact us to withdraw that consent, but this will not affect any processing that has already taken place at the time. You can also opt-out of our use of your information for marketing purposes by contacting us, as provided below. When you make such requests, we may need time to investigate and facilitate your request. If there is a delay or dispute as to whether we have the right to continue using your information, we will restrict any further use of your information until the request is honored or the dispute is resolved.
Opt-out of communications: You may opt-out of receiving promotional communications from us by using the unsubscribe link within each email or by contacting us as provided below to have your contact information removed from our promotional email list or registration database. Even after you opt-out from receiving promotional messages from us, you will continue to receive transactional messages from us regarding our Services. Please note, you may continue to see ads from us on third-party sites. Review the section below Analytics and Advertising Services Provided by Others.
Turn off Cookie Controls: Relevant browser-based cookie controls are described below.
Send "Do Not Track" Signals: Some browsers have incorporated "Do Not Track" (DNT) features that can send a signal to the websites you visit indicating you do not wish to be tracked. Because there is not yet a common understanding of how to interpret the DNT signal, our Services do not currently respond to browser DNT signals. You can use the range of other tools we provide to control data collection and use, including the ability to opt-out of receiving marketing from us as described above.
We keep your information, like your name, email address, and phone number, for as long as we need to deliver and maintain our Services. We keep information about you and your use of the Services for as long as necessary for our legitimate business interests, for legal reasons, and to prevent harm, including as described in the How We Use Information and How Information Is Shared sections.
How long we keep information we collect about you depends on the type of information, as described in further detail below. After such time, we will either delete or anonymize your information. Where we retain information for Service improvement and development, we take steps to eliminate information that directly identifies you, and we only use the information to uncover collective insights about the use of our Services, not to specifically analyze personal characteristics about you.
Marketing information: If you have elected to receive marketing emails from us, we retain information about your marketing preferences unless you specifically ask us to delete such information. We retain information derived from cookies and other tracking technologies for a reasonable period of time from the date such information was created.
Below are the ways that we and our partners use these technologies on our Services.
Personalization: To better personalize your website experience based on previous website actions or information provided.
Analytics and Research: To help us understand how you are using the Services so that we can make them better, faster, and safer.
Advertising: To enable our partners to serve advertisements for our products and services; deliver relevant ads to people who may be interested in them on other services; measure the performance of advertisements, and opt you out of receiving interest-based advertisements if that is your choice.
The Services are not directed to individuals under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we become aware that a child under 16 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
We work hard to keep your data safe. We use a combination of technical, administrative, and physical controls to maintain the security of your data. No method of transmitting or storing data is completely secure, however. If you have a security-related concern, please contact us below.
