Two men are working on fixing up a Flint home to give wounded veterans a place to stay, and RetroFoam of Michigan was able to help make the house more energy efficient.

Markiece Patrick and Tobias Lerke have been working on the home in Flint’s College Cultural Neighborhood to make it more energy-efficient. Their hope is for veterans who need to heal both mentally and physically will make the house their home as they get back on their feet, according to a report from WJRT ABC12.

The men reached out to RetroFoam of Michigan in an effort to lower the monthly energy bills. RetroFoam sent out several crews to remove the old, deteriorating insulation and to insulate the home from attic to basement.

“They were here like Extreme Makeover style,” Lerke told ABC12. “It was like a construction site.”

Other local businesses moved by the men’s endeavors have also reached out to help.
